The establishment of a free trade zone in the Long Thanh Airport City area is being studied to effectively develop the logistics industry and grow the local and regional economy.
On January 9, the Dong Nai provincial capital discussed and promoted with CT Strategies (an American customs and trade strategy consulting firm) the development of a free trade zone (FTZ) connecting Long Thanh Airport and Phuoc An Port.
This is the move taken by Dong Nai Province after Vu Tan Duc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province, proposed to the Prime Minister to establish a free trade zone in the airport city and surrounding areas to maximize the potential and advantages of airport operations.
Many countries have established FTZs, such as China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia… By investing here, companies can enjoy many benefits, such as no need to pay import and export taxes; serving as a springboard to enter the market; convenient transportation and logistics services; and connecting with other companies in and around the free trade zone.
CT Strategic believes that Dong Nai has all the conditions for developing a free trade zone, with the structure of Long Thanh Airport, Phuoc An Port and an industrial park ecosystem already formed. This will help make the province the most modern logistics, production and trade center in the region; attract strategic investments; strengthen global supply chain connections; promote local economic growth…
After listening to the report from the consulting firm, the leaders of Dong Nai province asked all departments and industries to complete the relevant documents as soon as possible and submit them to the government for approval so that the province can study and propose a proposal to establish a free trade zone.
